A tradition that I would like to freeze for my family is the making of things by hand. I was taught by my paternal grandmother to knit when I was about 9 or 10 years old. Knitting is something that has occupied my hands for over 50 years. I enjoy the process, but always the end product, too. It gives me pride to think that I have made something both useful and beautiful that I can enjoy myself or give to a loved one or friend. I have also enjoyed sewing, quilting and other crafts, but my heart belongs to the yarn and the needles!!
